Warum theoretisch undisziplinierte Interdisziplinarität eine gesellschaftstheoretisch fundierte reflexive Jugendforschung nicht ersetzen kann

Jugendforschung hat sich als ein interdisziplinäres Forschungsfeld etabliert, in dem disziplinäre Zuordnungen und Differenzen vielfach nur schwer zu erkennen sind. Der vorliegende Beitrag argumentiert, dass eine vermeintlich unproblematische themenbezogene Verknüpfung heterogener Theorien und Forschungsmethoden als additive Interdisziplinarität zu charakterisieren ist. Aufgezeigt wird, dass eine solche additive Interdisziplinarität eine theoretisch fundierte Relationierung heterogener disziplinärer Perspektiven nicht ersetzen kann. Er setzt sich zudem kritisch mit dem Vorschlag auseinander, eine wertfreie empirische Jugendforschung gegen eine normative Jugendpädagogik abzugrenzen. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden Aspekte eines gesellschaftstheoretisch fundierten Jugendbegriffs in der Absicht skizziert, eine Diskussion über transdisziplinär anschlussfähige Grundannahmen der Jugendforschung anzuregen.

Youth in Society: Why an additive kind of interdisciplinarity can not replace a theoretical foundation of youth research

Abstract

In Germany youth research is established as an interdisciplinary field, in which oftentimes the allocation to a certain discipline is difficult and disciplinary differences are hard to distinguish. The article argues, that the seemingly unproblematic thematic relationship between heterogeneous theories and methods of scientific research needs to be characterised as an additive interdisciplinarity and that such an interdisciplinarity cannot replace a theoretically substantiated relationship between heterogeneous disciplinary perspectives. The article further critically deals with the proposition, that a value free empirical research on youth should be distinguished from a normative research on youth. Against this background the aspects of a concept of youth which is founded in terms of social theory are outlined with the intent to stimulate interdisciplinary basic premises which can be related to in the research on youth.
