Die Frage inwieweit ein Konzept der Liebe einer philosophischen Ethik der Sorge, deren Fokus bislang stark auf das Phänomen der Akzeptanz von und der Verpflichtung in Abhängigkeit gerichtet war, wesentliche Impulse geben kann ist der
Ausgangspunkt dieses Beitrags. Erich Fromms normatives Konzept karitativer Liebe wird vorgestellt, um dann aus sozialpädagogischer Perspektive Martha Nussbaums Verbindung von Liebe und - beziehungsweise als - „Capability“ im Rückgriff auf den
US-amerikanischen Pragmatismus und Walt Whitmann kritisch zu diskutieren. Ziel ist schließlich pädagogische Konsequenzen aus einer nicht spekulativen, sondern empirisch beglaubigten Realität von Care und Liebe zu entfalten, für die Fragen der
Liebesfähigkeit, der Achtung und des Vertrauens wesentlich sind.

Ethical Emotions: Love, Care and Respect
Can a concept of love be an innovative enhancement for a philosophical ethics of care, so far particularly focusing on the phenomenon of respect for and the commitment in dependency? The author discusses this question beginning with Erich
Fromm’s normative concept of charitable love, followed by a critical rethinking of Martha Nussbaum’s idea of love as capability from a pedagogical perspective. Thereby becoming apparent how close these thoughts are related to basic ideas of USAmerican
pragmatism and notably the poet Walt Whitman. The objective of this article is to develop pedagogical consequences out of a empirically proved reality of care and love closely connected to questions of the capability to love, respect and
confidence.
