Das DJI-Kinderpanel als Beitrag zu eine Sozialberichterstattung über Kinder. Thearetisch-konzeptionelle Rahmung und method(olog)ische Implikationen

Der vorliegende Beitrag platziert das empirische Projekt „Kinderpanel“ des DJI im Rahmen von Diskursen der Sozialberichterstattung und der Kindheitsforschung. Neben der Betonung der explizit interdisziplinären Ausrichtung heißt dies auch, dass die Rolle des Kindes als Akteur in der Konstruktion seiner Sozialisationskontexte mitgedacht und Familie als durchaus widersprüchlicher Alltags- und Entwicklungskontext begriffen wird.

Als zentrales Leitmotiv der Auswertungen werden die differenzierten Einblicke in Lebenslagen, Teilhabemöglichkeiten und Entwicklungsmuster von Kindern herausgearbeitet. Eine weitere Spezifikation des konzeptuell-empirischen Vorgehens benennt es als differentiell: es interessieren geschlechter-, regional- und milieuspezifische Variationen des Kindseins und Aufwachsens. Ziel ist es, die gesellschaftlichen Öffentlichkeiten über Kindsein heute zu informieren und politischen Akteuren Daten und Empfehlungen zur Gestaltung der Lebensbedingungen von Kindern in Deutschland zu liefern.

Abstract

The paper enlightens the position of the empirical DJI-Children’s Panel in the contemporary discussion of social monitoring and in childhood research. In addition to an explicit inter-disciplinarily alignment of research the survey focuses on children as actors contributing to the construction of their own contexts of socialization. Family shall be perceived as a controversial context of everyday life and child development.

The central subject of the evaluations will be to gain insight into the differentiated circumstances and into the possibilities to participate and to trace patterns of children’s development. The focus on differences between gender, region and the milieu in which the children come up is a special characteristic of the conceptual-empirical approach in order to gather specific variation in the development of being a child and growing-up. It is a main purpose to inform the social public about what it means being a child of our times and to provide political actors with data and recommendations to create the better life-conditions for children in Germany.
